Who is it for?
BloodSTOP and BloodSTOP PLUS iX/EX gauze can be used on anyone who is bleeding—whether they are bleeding because of a minor cut or a major surgery. It is commonly used in a wide variety of settings—including home first aid kits, school athletic fields, emergency responders' kits, veterinary offices, surgery rooms, dental offices, ob/gyn offices, and battlefields.

How does it work?
When it comes into contact with blood, BloodSTOP gauze speeds coagulation and expands to a gel that adheres to the surface and applies pressure as it seals the wound.

What are the BloodSTOP and BloodSTOP PLus iX/EX differences?
EQUIXMed.com offers two gauze products: BloodSTOP and BloodSTOP Plus IX/EX. They are both water-soluble hemostatic agents made from the finest completely natural cellulose. BloodSTOP gauze is often used externally because of its cost-effectiveness; it is made of oxidized cellulose. BloodSTOP Plus is used primarily internally; it is made from etherized regenerated cellulose and typically stops bleeding 80% faster than traditional methods and reduces blood loss by 60%.

About BloodSTOP® and Wound Care
When dealing with wounds that require the specialized talents of Wound Care Professionals,

BloodSTOP® gauze is the ideal hemostatic gauze to be used in the Wound Care setting.  Each BloodSTOP® gauze piece is in a sterile package that is easy to handle and apply. For most bleeding wounds, lacerations, and cuts, the Wound Care Professional simply applies BloodSTOP® gauze to the bleeding wound site with a little pressure.

BloodSTOP® interacts with fibrin and platelettes in the blood to form a clear hemostatic gel shield, which coagulates the blood and seals the wound to keep out the dirt and infectious agents.

BloodSTOP® is used post-Curettage/Debridement to stop the bleeding and to serve as a "sterile shield".  BloodSTOP® Gauze is placed on the site first with a regular gauze dressing over it.  Twenty-four hours later, this first dressing is removed (sterile water or saline may be used) and replaced with a prescribed dressing.  Reports have come back after extensive procedures, that BloodSTOP™ "Stopped the bleeding in a heart beat!".

If a patient has several problematic wound sites, several gauze pieces can be applied quickly, and the Wound Care Professional can monitor each site easily!

Unlike traditional gauze and pressure techniques to stop bleeding, BloodSTOP® gauzes do most of the work to reduce tissue trauma as a wound is treated.  When time is at essence, BloodSTOP™ works fast to stop the bleeding with the minimal effort.
